Dani Samson stood, nervous, with her one-month old daughter. The paparazzi snapped picture after picture. She'd sold an exclusive interview a few weeks prior to People Magazine and now she was ready to explain her decision to name her daughter Plethora. The press was quite confused, but they were quite used to celebrities who gave children strange names. This was Dani's second child. The first child, Annie Thing (to signify that she could, in fact, grow up to be...well...anything) was now two years old and did not join her mother. The crowd hushed.
"We are all here today, because I would like to introduce you to my daughter, Plethora Multitude Samson." Dani paused and looked out at the flashes. "I would like to explain the meaning of her name at this time.
"You see, 'plethora' means overabundance, and my daughter, Plethora, has no shortage of love. In fact, because of all my adoring fans, and the press, and my boyfriend and myself, she has an overabundance of love. 'Multitude' means a great number. There are a great number of possible careers for Plethora Multitude to follow."
"Ms. Samson," a reporter called out, "aren't you worried that her initials are P.M.S.?"
The crowd became completely silent, and cameras began flashing again as Dani's face showed realization of the mistake. She turned to her publicist and whispered, "Do you think it's too late to change her name?"
The publicist stared back at her with a smirk on his face and shook his head.
Dani turned back to the audience, "Well, now P.M.S. will stand for something different." She looked around, indignant, as her audience broke out in laughter.
